To be alive in this century in modern America is to be continuously bombarded by distractions. Anything from work, to relationships, to social media, can serve as a distraction from the most important relationship we could ever have and that is our relationship with God. That is not to say that any of the aforementioned potential distractions are bad in and of themselves, but what happens when they take up all of your time, energy, and resources and leave you with nothing left to give, even to God?
Sometimes, be it intentionally or otherwise, we place God and His purpose for us on the back burner while we stew up our own ideas and plans. But God, being the great father that He is, doesn’t allow our attention to stray for too long before He does something to prompt us to refocus our hearts and minds on Him and His divine purpose for our lives.
So now the question is: How do you know when God is trying to get your attention? Below is a brief video providing examples that I can draw from my own life (and from the Bible) of when God did things or allowed things to occur to refocus my attention on Him.
Have there been any moments in your life when you realized that God was trying to get your attention? How long did it take you to realize it? Leave a comment below and share your experience. I would love to hear how God is moving in your life!
